About

Who am I?

My name is Jennifer and I live in New Zealand. I’m a university student in my third year (English and philosophy). I love looking at the stars and doing crossword puzzles in the sun.

Why the blog?

I am surrounded by wonderful people, but there are some things that they don’t need to hear (like the fact that evolution trumps intelligent design) or aren’t interested in hearing (like the fact that my favourite book follows the monomyth pattern). So, this blog is primarily, but not exclusively, for me to:
  1. argue against stuff that annoys, angers, frustrates or offends me.
  2. comment on books, television, movies and music that I read/watch/hear.
  3. share things I find interesting and amusing.
  4. get your response :-)

Stuff I find interesting (and that will therefore get frequent mentions):

In general:

  • religion
  • freethought (etc. etc.)
  • popular culture
  • the fantasy genre (for books)
  • the sci-fi genre (for tv)
  • ethics

A few favourites:

  • Mercedes Lackey’s books
  • Boston Legal
  • Star Trek
  • Bones

What are those weird round rocks in the header?

They are the Moeraki boulders – a tourist attraction on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. I don’t know how they got there but I’m sure Wikipedia does if you’re curious. Personally, I’m waiting for the day one hatches…

Responses

  1. OMG! If one hatches it might be like that movie…I think it’s called The Waterhorse…? A weird animal might pop out!
    How awesome would that be!?
P.S: You need a line break between “Bones” and “What are those weird round rocks in the header?” ;)

  2. Why has you gots a tag cloud widget and a tags widget…*pokes*

  3. Just ‘cos I can :)
